What is VERO’S VAN-GO? Vero’s Van-Go is a limited-sized boutique event being held in an historic garden setting in Vero Beach. It aims to create a unique and intimate gathering for van-lifers and to share this amazing way of living with like-minded individuals.
What is the venue? Located in Vero Beach, Florida, the rustic charm and haunting ambiance of Waldo’s Garden is quickly observed by all who enter onto the grounds. Waldo Sexton designed this haven using an abundance of driftwood, iron, and recognizable pieces from the collection of another well-known Palm Beach architect, Addison Mizner.
Sexton broke ground on this unique property around 1911. Section by section, the main house was built initially for himself and his family. The driftwood-inspired house was built in the 40’s to accommodate his daughter, Barbara, and her new husband, John Tripson. Tied together by a jungle and whimsical sidewalk, the two historic homes have become an ode to Waldo’s love for large, rough wood and rustic construction.
The family developed Vero Beach Dairy in 1922, which is the back parcel of the property (later changed to Tripson Dairy) – what used to be a thriving agricultural business is now inactive, yet , undisturbed to preserve its apparent charm. It now serves as an antique and art barn and is currently being renovated for another venue option.
One of the most alluring attributes to this modern day secret garden is the majestic jungle mixed with old Florida tied together.
How many vans are you able to accommodate? To keep our event intimate and to maximize our small space, we are limiting this event to the first 50 paid registrations.
What is the maximum size of vans that can participate? The maximum length van is 24-feet. No trailers or pull-behinds allowed. No tent camping available.
Who can attend? Van-lifers (full-time or seasonal) are invited to camp with us as long as your van is under 24 feet long (including racks/storage, etc.)
Do I need a van to attend? No! You just need to have the van-life spirit. If you're just looking to tour some rigs and learn more about nomadic living then Day-use General Admission tickets are available! (No tent camping.)
Can I sell something at Vero’s Van-Go ? Yes! If you intend on selling products or services at your site, you are required to research and pay all appropriate local taxes. We have officially informed you of this! Have your item(s) marked clearly for sale and the price.
Tell me about camping at Vero’s Van-Go! When you arrive you’ll need to show the entrance attendant your ticket (digital or printed). You’ll also be issued wristbands (which must be worn at all times). Hook-ups are not available, so you must be 100% self-contained and please, don't leak anything onto the ground.
We’ll be arranging rigs into rows and parking everyone so that the passenger/slider door faces inward. You will not be ASSIGNED specific spots, but you'll be directed where to park upon arrival. If you would like to park next to friends, we recommend that you meet up outside of the event and enter together so that you end up being parked near each other.
Do I need to be self-contained? Yes. There are no hook-ups available, and you must be 100% self-contained. Make sure to fill up on fuel, water, and food before arriving. And make sure to empty all waste tanks as well!
What does exhibiting your rig entail? On Saturday, we encourage EVERYONE to open their doors to the public during certain hours to make new friends and help others get a glimpse into what a vanlife is all about. You’ll get to teach others about your rig, share stories from the road, and inspire the next generation of vanlifers.
Do I HAVE to exhibit my rig? Nope! Exhibiting your rig is completely optional, but please consider it! The best sources of ideas and inspiration come from touring all the rigs If you choose not to exhibit, please lock your rig when you are away from it.
Will there be bathrooms and showers? There will be portable toilets on site. There will NOT be showers.
Who needs to have tickets? A camping ticket is good for admission for two adults and their children into the event.
For Day Use / General Admission, children under the age of 13 are not required to have tickets but are required to be with a parent/legal guardian who does.
Are pets allowed? Bring your furry friends – but you must have them on a leash and you are 100% responsible for their behavior. Please clean up after your pets and properly dispose of anything they create in the trash cans on site. All pets must be well-behaved.
If any animal displays aggressive behavior, they’ll need to remain inside a locked vehicle for the safety of the animal and attendees. If a pet is a disturbance to others and you are unable to rectify the situation, you will be asked to leave the event with no refund issued.
Can I leave the venue and come back? Yes, but not in your van. We require that you remain at the event for the duration. You can leave the venue and return on foot/bike/rideshare. If you’re camping and you know you’ll need to leave before the event officially ends, let us know at registration and we’ll ensure that you can sneak out. If you just want to leave to check out the town or grab something at the store, plan on walking, cycling, or using a rideshare service. If you have an emergency come up and need to move your rig, we’ll make it happen.
Can I use a generator? Generators will be allowed ONLY from 10am to 8pm, but we strongly advise against generator use in general due to the fact that we are in a residential area and everyone will be parked close together, and generators create irritating and potentially harmful exhaust fumes and unwanted noise. Your best source of power will be the sun!
Will there be food at Vero’s Van-Go ? We'll have a select few food trucks available.
Can I bring my own food and alcohol? If you are attending the event as a camper you may bring your own food and alcohol BUT, please consume alcohol responsibly.
Is there cell phone service?
Yep! Most carriers work in the area.
Is there wifi at the venue? There is wifi available at a specific location on the property; otherwise, you are encouraged to use your hotspots.
Are fires allowed? No open fires are allowed. This is an historic property with a LOT of wooden structures and natural areas. Grills and campstoves are permitted at your sites.
Can I take pictures / videos / fly a drone? Please…. Take pics…lots of pics and videos and share on socials, etc. All we ask is that you tag your photos with the #verosvango.
Unfortunately, due to liability issues, drones are NOT allowed.
Is smoking allowed? Nope. For the health and safety of everyone, Vero’s Van-Go is a smoke-free event. (ALL types of smoke…) If you must consume tobacco products, it must be smokeless (vape, dip, etc). If you use a vaporizer, please do so politely. If you dip, don't spit it on the ground. Again…an historic venue with many wooden structures and fire hazards.
Am I allowed to play music? Music will be allowed in the camping area at a responsible level, but be considerate and respectful of those near you. Music should not contain overly offensive language. Quiet hours in the camping area will be from 10pm to 8am.
When do we need to be off the property? The event ends promptly at noon on Sunday. All campers should be off the property by that time. We hope you take the opportunity to explore Vero Beach and will provide you with options for your enjoyment on Sunday!
